The Freshman Football Celts opened their 2017 campaign with a win at home over North Salem.
McNary Celts began the 2017 season with 33 eligible players and will soon be 42. The Celts had a one point lead going into halftime thanks to Ethan Martin’s 78 yard kickoff return for the Celts first touchdown of the season. It was a defensive battle for most of the game. McNary had 2 turnovers to the Vikings 3 turnovers. Early in the 4th quarter Ian Martin ran for a 46 yard touchdown run. With 1:18 left on the clock and North Salem inside the 10 yard line with first and goal, McNary was able to force a turnover on downs.
The final score of the game was McNary 14, North Salem 6.
The next game for the Celts is at Home on Monday, September 11th 6:00pm against the South Salem Saxons.
